Music
Alongside my academic career, I am also a musician specializing in the musical roots of Anatolia and Asia Minor. I was born in Istanbul into a musical family where poetry and music were served in tiny house gatherings. I pursued my music studies at various institutions, including the Turkish Radio and Television (TRT, 1996-2001), Mehmet Erenler Baglama Atolyesi (2004), Bogazici University Folk Music and Dance Club (BUFK, 2006-2008), Jazz Styles (Bogazici University, 2009), Cavit Murtezaoglu Ses Atolyesi (2009-2015) and Music Department at UC Davis (Western Classical Music, Hindustani Music Ensemble, 2016-2017). Active as a performer and cultural worker since my teens, I had long years of experience learning and teaching voice techniques across various institutions, and working on wide-ranging collaborative projects diving into the musical roots of the world.
